Help Us Build a Community Hub
The EYC Project is named after Annette (born Elizando Yolande Carty), whose dedication to supporting her family inspired the work we do today.
Through her own lived experience, Annette saw the impact of social inequality and what happens when people fall through the gaps in support systems. Having witnessed these challenges across our wider family, despite not always knowing the answers, she was determined to ensure her own children had someone fighting in their corner.
Despite facing her own challenges in childhood she never stopped showing up for her children as an adult. Due to this, she sacrificed her own dreams and ambitions to provide support, guidance, and stability when it was needed most.
Part of her children being able to find a different path and remain connected in the family came from her approach to parenting. Today, they work in public serving roles supporting children, young people, adults families, professionals across statutory services and community organisations. We see a big part of this as a direct result of having someone who consistently showed up for us when it mattered most.
While some experiences and trauma have had a lifelong impact on her children and others in the family of her childrens generation, we know how powerful the right support can be in breaking generation cycles. Through the EYC Project, we want to ensure that other young people and families have access to the opportunities, guidance, and support that many of us had to find on our own.
As a result of this, we seek to raise funds to create a permanent community hub in South London for young people aged 10–25 and families affected by social inequality.
The hub will provide:
• A safe space for young people to access support and positive role models
• Advocacy for families facing challenges and disadvantage
• Training and support for parents, carers, and professionals
• Workshops that build confidence, resilience, and life skills
• Opportunities for young people to connect, learn, play, and thrive
• A permanent base for the EYC Project to serve the community
Every donation, no matter the size, will help us create a lasting community resource for young people and families.
Thank you for supporting the EYC Project.
