Story
Exford is a small rural community in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. The Queen Elizabeth II playing fields are an important local amenity for all ages and abilities providing a home not just to the cricket team but also the youth club and croquet club. With help from the Parish Council a dedicated team of volunteers work tirelessly to maintain the facilities.
The main pavilion which has a kitchen area and changing room is in fact a repurposed second hand school building and is well below an acceptable modern standard. There is an astroturf wicket adjacent to the main cricket square which is frequently needed because of the challenging weather patterns high on the moor. Sadly this has reached the end of its useable life through the sheer amount of wear. Finally we recently suffered the theft of the only mower capable of cutting the outfield.
The purpose of this crowd funding initiative is therefore threefold. Firstly, to replace the stolen mower and repair the damage caused to the storage area. Second, to purchase a new astroturf wicket. Finally, if funds allow, we will undertake enhancements to the pavilion including installing a shower.
We estimate that to achieve the above will require in the region of ten thousand pounds. We have already started a number of fund raising activities and received some very generous offers of help but we need your support so that we can restore these community assets for the benefit of the whole community.
