Story
On Oct 24th we took our daughter into A&E in San Sebastian with terrible headaches. Six hours later she had been diagnosed with a massive brain tumour. Nine days later she was repatriated by air ambulance to Bristol Children's Hospital. She underwent four operations in all, two in Spain and two more in Bristol, but sadly the cancer was too aggressive and too widespread and she passed away on 11 Jan 18.
During our month at the Bristol Children's Hospital we were lucky enough to be accommodated in Ronald MacDonald House, but other families were not so fortunate with many funding their stays a long way from home out of their own pockets. For some it was an expense that they couldn't afford.
We are setting up a charity in our daughter's name to offer immediate financial support to families whose children have been admitted to hospital with life threatening or life limiting conditions, as well as to fund research into the extremely rare cancer that killed our daughter. We have already secured free legal advice and now need to fund the other set up costs. We hope that you will feel able to support our efforts to provide this badly needed help to families who are experiencing desperate situations, made worse by worrying about how they can afford to stay near their children.

I have just read Spitfire's Blog in the RHS newsletter. This is to encourage them on their sponsored walk, such a wonderful thing you have set up in Evie's name.

Evie, our 13 year old daughter was the very centre of our lives and her loss has been devastating. But .... We are determined that something positive MUST come out of the pain, so we are setting up a charity to help people tackling the trauma of life threatening conditions.
