Story

WHAT IS ERIC’S EPIC WALK?

Eric, a 91 year old resident at King's Park Care Home in Ferndown, Dorset, can often be found doing his daily strolls up and down the home's garden in a bid to keep himself fit and mobile. Eric gets much pleasure from these walks, but the home suggested there was much more pleasure for him to be had from his daily constitutionals – The pleasure of giving back.

With a big, generous heart, Eric is the first to always think of others and gets much satisfaction from helping those around him, so it was suggested that Eric raise some money for some local charities; the Lewis Manning Hospice and Julia's House Hospice, the latter also being his late wife, Grace’s favourite charity and one that he also wants to continue to support it in her memory.

Thus, Eric's EPIC Walk was then born!

Eric would like to challenge as many people as possible to walk for one mile each and in doing so, donate as much money as people can afford, to this fantastic cause.

All the miles walked by participants will be added towards the of the equivalent of walking from Kings Park Care Home (Eric's home) to Buckingham Palace, which is exactly 100 miles! The more people who join in and donate, the further we all travel and who knows where the equivalent miles will then take us!

Keeping us all fit and helping with our mental health, what better way than to get together and do us all a little good and give a bit back to those who truly need our support the most.

So grab your friends & families, dogs, classmates, crew mates, work mates, colleagues, youth groups, churches, community groups and everyone else in between and in Eric's words: 'Stop talking and start walking!'

Give whatever you can afford - It all helps!

THANK YOU.

Please email your miles walked to: rebekah.goddard@barchester.com so that we can keep track.
