I first came across AA Dog rescue just a few months ago. My sister and I did a boot sale to help raise money for them. When we arrived my sister warned me I might feel a little sad as it isn't a fancy place, it's run by volunteers and the donations this place counts on goes towards the dogs, and towards helping more dogs. AA Dog rescue will not put a healthy dog down, some dogs have been there for years. I cried when I first walked in, so many little furry faces looking up longingly wondering if today might be their day. I wanted to take them all. After the initial sadness I looked a little harder and saw something that made me smile, how the volunteers gave up their time to care for these dogs, how the place done away with all the fancy stuff so that every penny could go towards the dogs, how happy the dogs were to be taken out for a walk by wonderful people who had given up their weekend morning to do just that.
I can't save every dog, but I can try and raise money to help this wonderful place fight closure by the council, apparently it's too noisy, and help keep these dogs alive and loved.
I know so many of you gave to my last marathon, but if you are in a position where you are able to and would like to donate I will run my socks off for you one more time.
