On May 29th 2016, my client (and now friend), lost his beautiful 11 year old daughter Abby to cancer.

During her fight, Abby had 23 rounds of chemotherapy, 50 days of radiotherapy, stem cell harvesting, scans, cannulas, drains, intensive care stays & pioneering surgery, but the cancer returned the day after Christmas in 2014.

Despite being terminal, this little girl danced and laughed whenever she could. She is a true inspiration. Abby told me about a list that she had - of things she wanted to do in her life time. One of the things she wanted to experience was being in a jaccuzzi. We set this up for her, but on the day she was supposed to come over, she fell ill with a respitory illness and was too unwell to be exposed to the temperature change.

So as I have already experienced a hot jaccuzzi, in memory of Abby, I'm going to do the opposite. On Christmas Day, I will be jumping into the very cold December sea, in my bikini and Santa hat. It's going to be an intense experience I'm sure!

I am aiming to raise £200, but as it's Christmas and I'm sure all of my friends are feeling generous, I would love to beat this target! All of the money raised will be going to the Abby's heroes charity.

Abby's family have provided me with the following information about what Abby's heroes will do. It's a very worthwhile cause.

As the child is facing months or years of treatment, families are often separated for long periods, as parents need to stay with the child, but also may have siblings that need looking after as well. Jobs are put on hold and so then the financial implications start to hit home, and it puts a massive strain on families.

Abby’s heroes will provide practical and financial help to these families. Whether it be paying their mortgage for a few months while they get back on their feet or helping with a trip away to make some precious memories, whatever the family require!
