Story

Edinburgh Spiders are a group of volunteers committed to aiding Ukraine. We hand-make camouflage nets which are then sent to those fighting for democracy and freedom in Ukraine.

So far, the Edinburgh Spiders have weaved and sent about 100 nets (a mixture of 5x6 and 2x3 metres) to Ukraine. We've also collected food and clothes which have been warmly received by those in need. Finally, we function as a Recycling and Networking centre, Food and Clothes Bank and an Art, Art Therapy, Hiking and Tea club.

So far, we have depended on fabric donations but this has become a bottleneck to the number of nets we can produce. To continue providing the nets - which are desperately needed to protect those fighting for freedom - we are fundraising to purchase more material and support multiple weaving sites.

Fabric donations and volunteers are welcome and encouraged. Fabric should be of natural colours and not contain synthetic materials which could melt when exposed to heat or fire. Netting takes place at 4-8pm every Friday & Saturday at Morningside United Church, 15 Chamberlain Road, Edinburgh, UK. We welcome volunteers of all nationalities and ages.

Thank you very much!
