    Story

It is with the utmost sadness that Effingham Cricket Club had to report the tragic death of one of our senior players, Mark Collin, who was taken ill at the 1st XI match at Newdigate on Saturday 19th August . Despite strenuous efforts on the part of players, paramedics, the air ambulance and hospital staff, Mark passed away at Kings College Hospital, London.

We are shocked and saddened at the loss of a highly respected and much loved friend, team-mate and Club member and send our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to all his immediate family.

On behalf of Effingham CC, family and friends of Mark Collin, the Club would like to express our utmost gratitude to everyone who has been in touch to offer their condolences. The tributes have been an inspirational source of strength for all of us as we come to terms with the heartbreaking loss of such a widely respected and much-loved son, husband, father, brother, friend and teammate.

We have received a number of requests from people asking if they can donate something to help the family and after careful consideration, have decided that it would be appropriate to do so.

We cannot appropriately express our gratitude to those who have offered to make a donation in memory of Mark. These offers are incredibly moving and most sincerely appreciated.
