Story

Children are our future! And can be our conscience too!

Current project: Following 2023 donations of signed books and other fun things to local children's hospital charities for young patients under hospital treatment and care that the children said they loved - it will be great to do so again with your help!

Your donations here will be used to buy new copies of some favourite space, Earth, and people-in-science books for children and teens that are unwell in a children's hospital near me. Wherever possible, personal signed messages from the authors will again be requested and included in the books to be donated. Plus, other items of space, Earth, and people-in-science themes will be brought together to fill up the fun boxes then dropped off with Glasgow's Children's Hospital Charity who will swiftly deliver the uplifting package for young patients.

Which books? There are lots of really brilliant illustrated and written examples on the donation wish list, a few to mention here are:

Headstrong: 52 Women Who Changed Science-and the World by Rachel Swaby (~£14 each)

Can you Get Rainbows in Space by Sheila Kanani (~£9 each)

Green Rising by Lauren James (~£9 each)

Future Hopes: Hopeful stories in a time of climate change Edited by Lauren James (~£8 each)

What other gifts? Examples such as space-themed puzzles, children's and babies clothing - some with space or science attitude. Plus, astronaut-themed blankets, card games concerning Earthly wonders, space exploration and planets, huggable aliens, spacey journals, pens, art packs, and so much more!

Thank you for any support that it is possible for you to give to this project that will buy new, add signatures from the creators where possible, gift wrap and swiftly send great space and earth-wise gifts to sick children. Themed donations that are intended to bring a smile, comfort, provide a little distraction, present fun and challenging games for patients and their families, and spark sick children's imaginations, interests, learning, and ambitions for the future.

If support here, unexpectedly, exceeds the target additional themed-gifts will be donated to the hospital charity and/or to other Scottish children's hospital charities.

Extremely grateful to friend Joséfa Celestin for very kindly creating the logo.
