I have decided to get my ear tagged with a livestock tag in solidarity with all of the animals around the world who are tagged as property and treated as such.

I’ve set up this JustGiving page in the hopes that some people might sponsor me to do this, to raise some much needed funds for beneath the woods animal sanctuary in Wales who are always in financial need and have lots of debt to pay back from setting up accommodation for all of the lucky animals.

Beneath the wood are home to lots of rescue animals including 91 pigs rescued from an illegal slaughterhouse operation. These pigs have been through so much, living in hell in amongst the slaughter of their friends and surrounded by carcasses with nothing else to live off. They were then seized by officials and held in an isolation unit for months on end whilst activists campaigned for the destruction order that was placed on them to be reversed and the pigs to be released to the sanctuary.

For the pigs, the sanctuary is the first place they have been treated as anything other than property to be owned or discarded as humans see fit.

More than 70 billion land animals are killed each year for food - all of them individuals but seen as nothing more than property and products to make money from. For me ear tags are really symbolic of that, with animals being bred and kept in such large numbers they are just a number and not seen for the individuals that they are.

So please help me raise some cash to help support the lucky animals who do have a life of freedom and raise awareness for the ones who don’t have that privilege, BTW spend £1,000/week just on pig feed so even though it might not be much, anything we can raise would be a help.

I will film and share the painful moment of getting ear tagged, and yes il be doing it the same way they do to animals - with a tagging gun and no pain relief or anaesthetic.
