Story

It's that time of year again...I'm running the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise money to support the homeless people I work with. With funding cuts on the horizon, we rely more and more on charitable donations to enable us to do the work that we do, that helps save people's lives!!

This year, the race falls the day after the deadline of a fundraising competition my organisation is running to help develop innovation, creativity, confidence and employability skills (I may contact you in the next few days asking you to buy homemade jam, lovespoons, and body scrubs!!) so by donating via crowdfunding rather than Solas's justgiving page, I can add the donations to our fundraising total, and increase our chance of winning.

Two years ago we won the competition, and the prize was afternoon tea in the Celtic Manor Hotel (where Obama stayed when he came to Wales!) which a once in a lifetime experience for some of our residents, many of whom were street-homeless only months before.

The rest of the fundraising money is added to our client engagement budget, which enables us to run skills workshops and therapeutic activities.

Every little helps!!
