Story

On the 6th August 1995 my father passed away at the age of 69 due to cancer, with my mother passing in November 2009 aged 82 once again as a result of cancer. I walked and played 72 holes of golf in a day on 4 separate occasions to raise money for Macmillan Cancer raising in excess of £10,000. Having read Kevin Sinfield's book 'Going the Extra Mile' last year, I came up with the idea of playing and walking 101 holes in a day but then didn't progress this any further.

Then 6 weeks ago I received very sad news of a good friend of mine passing at the young age of 62 through prostate cancer, together with my brother in law having the news that his cancer had not gone away but would need constant treatment for the rest of his life. It's also 10 years since my daughter in law's father passed away at the young age of 61 with Oesophageal cancer.

This triggered the challenge of doing 101 holes in a day and have secured the support of 5 golfing friends to help me get through the day walking approximately 25 miles whilst playing golf at Ashburnham Golf Club on the 30th anniversary of my father passing on the 6th August 2025.

We will be aiming to raise funds for Prostate Cancer, Macmillan Cancer and MND so please support me in my quest to get through 101 holes of golf.
