Story
On June 22nd I will be running from Clovelly to Bude along the coastal path. This is 26.2 miles of gruelling rugged coastline and notoriously challenging. This is my first ever marathon and my hardest challenge to date. I am running to raise funds to help with the completion of ‘Corey’s Cabin’, Corey’s story so far.........
Corey Alway was born in July 2014 2 months premature. Since his birth he has spent 6 months as an inpatient in Bristol Children’s Hospital and has had over 300 day appointments. He has 2 genetic problems called ‘16p13.3 duplicate syndrome’ and ‘Kabuki Syndrome’. These genetic disorders cause many complex medical problems and developmental delays. He suffers with hydrocephalus, hearing and sight problems aswell as polymorphic intractable epilepsy. At its worst Corey will seizure 300+ times a day. Corey never allows any of his conditions to hold him back and perseveres with the most wonderful and infectious smile. I‘m raising funds to complete the work on Corey’s cabin. Corey’s cabin is a purpose built space for when Corey is having bad days to keep him safe. Unfortunately over the last couple of months Corey has had several bad days as he has developed a new seizure which is interfering with his breathing. He will receive another operation soon at Bristol Children’s Hospital to fit a Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS) device which is like a pace maker for the brain. Having the cabin finished will enable Corey and his parents to have a safe environment for Corey at home. Thankyou for any donations you can make 😊
