Story

Bukit Lawang is a beautiful village in the jungle of North Sumatra, Indonesia, home to the kindest, most generous people you could ever meet. Usually, the area is popular with tourists during the spring and summer months, with jungle treks to see orangutans being the main attraction and driving the local economy. However, at the start of this COVID-19 pandemic, the government shut Bukit Lawang's borders to tourists and income is no where to be seen. This has impacted every single member of the community, even those not directly involved in the tourism industry. It is extremely important that during this challenging and uncertain time, we help the most vulnerable and unseen members of the community. The money that we raise will go towards buying food supplies - this includes rice, eggs, noodles, sugar and oil - the most needed food supplies in Indonesia.

Any donations towards this cause would be amazing! A little can go a long way and really help the poorest families in Bukit Lawang get through this tough time.

*** Thank you to everyone who donated! Raka and Nurul successfully distributed 70 food parcels to families in Bukit Lawang. We are now launching a phase 2 to help raise more donations to buy school supplies (books, pencils etc) for the local children of these families and others!
