Story

Dom started working for B&Q when he was a baby boy of just 17 years old in 2005, and has grown up in the business since then. Dom started his journey as a CA in the old Newport store in maesglas, and is famous for his ‘Dom on customer service’ replies to the then frequent tannoy calls.

He was promoted to Trading Manager and moved to Muller Rd store in Bristol, covering almost all departments before moving to Cwmbran and covering Décor, Seasonal and Building in his time there. Three years ago he returned to the new Newport store currently on corporation road and has lead the building team. Recently, he was the driving force for the new Tradepoint Box project over the line from concept to opening in January earlier this year; with the tradepoint box being one of the most successful new boxes of its size in the company.

Dom is an avid football fan- he loves Arsenal Football Club. He also plays most weeks in local games and leagues and maintained close contacts with his previous colleagues; so he always had someone to ring and play if he was a man down.

The only thing he loves more than football is his daughter, Amelia. He absolutely dotes on her- taking her away whenever they could manage it. Most recently to their trip to Butlins, where we all heard him moan about the price of a pint of Stella!

About 6 weeks ago, Dom started complaining of pain in his stomach and back. However, being the committed trooper (and man’s man) he is, Dom kept coming to work and fought through the pain. It got to a point where he couldn’t cope anymore and he went to the doctors where they discovered a massive tumour. Further tests unfortunately revealed Dom has un-operable terminal cancer; with a short amount of time left. Dom is so well thought of in the store and throughout the company, and is one of the kindest most loyal people you could ever meet. We started to try and fundraise for him and Amelia, and across the weekend we have raised over £2000 already! This shows just how well thought of Dom is by friends and colleagues, and now we would like your help!

Of the money we are raising, 100% of the kind donations will go to Dom’s family and most importantly, his daughter Amelia. We appreciate everyone’s time in reading our message and please donate if you can, no donation is too small.
