Story
DJ ALLIANCE SUPPORT FOR SYD LAWRENCE
Following news that David ‘Syd’ Lawrence has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in June this year, many of us were saddened & shocked by this announcement. It also led to those of us who know Syd, to offer assistance in different ways to provide help & support with his care.
Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves. It causes weakness that gets worse over time. There's no cure for MND, but there are treatments to help reduce the impact it has on a person's daily life
David Syd Lawrence has always been passionate about music over decades, from a mover on the dancefloor to eventually opening venues for the nightlife scene in Bristol. When Dojo was open it offered another market to the industry which some clubs weren’t necessary catering for. It gave birth to a number of nights, and resident events (Slosh) as well as opportunities for upcoming DJ and renown headliners like Jazzie B (Soul II Soul) to perform there.
Syd’s contribution from sports to entertainment is an example of his passion and dedication to the city of Bristol he loves, where he would become president of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. Syd was also the first British born black player to play cricket for England.
All of Syd’s achievements are appreciated and recognized throughout the UK, and that’s why in a time of need, we can now come together and lend our support, whichever way we can for him.
So, members of the music fraternity have joined with the DJ Alliance to show their support to Syd, his family and his care, plus also to support the Motor Neuron Disease (MND) Association. The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland
On Sunday 8th December we will be broadcasting a 12-hour DJ set live stream, which will start from 12midday to 12 midnight, featuring: Featuring:
DJ BUNJY, MARK DAVIS, MAC 3, DJ FLYN, INFIDELITY TAKEOVER Ft. TERRAHAWK, FUCHAMAN, SHREDAH, MC RAFF. DJ STYLE, BEN DUBISSON, GAL-LION, DJ WALLY, DJ LEO.
We are inviting you to join us, and participate with the livestream by making donations towards Syd’s care and towards Syd’s charity of choice, the MND Association. All donations raised will be split 50/50 percent between the daily care for Syd’s and the MND Association.
Any little amount you are able to give, will go a long way to those having to live with MND.
