Story
Please support our cause! 100 of us from CURE Ethiopia Children's Hospital are doing the Great Ethiopian Run on Sunday 17th November to raise money to treat children born with dislocated hips.
Why?
Every week at CURE Ethiopia Children's Hospital, children born with dislocated hips (hip dysplasia) undergo major surgery to put the hip back into joint.
We are working on a national program to diagnose these children as babies when they can be treated in a special fabric splint (a Pavlik harness, picture above). This works well for most babies, giving them perfect hips without a need for future surgery.
How can you help?
We are hoping to raise money to buy Pavlik harnesses to care for these babies. Each harness costs £50. Our hope is to manage all babies born with dislocated hips in this way, giving them the best start to life.
