Story
Healthcare in Uganda is under-resourced and inadequate. 38% of the population need to pay "out of pocket" for their health needs and 21% of the population live below the poverty line so are unable to afford any care at all.
NDE-Network (UK charity number 1111488 & a USA registered 501(3)(c) corporation) has already established projects on a property in Wakiso (in Uganda) to provide a loving home for up to 100 needy or orphaned children and to school children in the area in kindergarten, primary and secondary schools as well as a newly added STEM centre.
On this same property a medical centre has been built.
In October 2023 a team of 14 wonderful volunteers installed and equipped the medical centre so that it is now able to provide dental and optical services (including a dental lab where we can make false teeth and dentures as well as an optical lab where we can make glasses)
Once we have enough funds to purchase laboratory equipment and an ultrasound scanner we will be able to open the entire centre including children's and women's health units for which there is a great need in Uganda. DMC would then be able to provide cervical and breast cancer screening for women which is deeply lacking in Uganda. The children's unit has been fitted out already so it is ready to open as soon as these funds are available.
The vision is to provide high quality care to fee-paying patients which will then subsidise the charitable aspects of the centre including dental and optical outreach clinics as well as a community health worker who will take care to people in the community.
Watch this video to see how poor health education and inadequate healthcare has a very real impact on Ugandans lives:
Please contribute whatever you can to making this a medical centre steeped in love and care for those who have so little and are so under-served.

1 year agoThe fundraiser on Friday 1st December was a blast!!! The 12 hour cyclathon, 2 performances by Destiny Africa choir from Uganda and the cake & craft sale got people involved, engaged & sweaty!! 36 sponsored cyclists did 30 or 60 minute sessions on 2 stationary bikes attempting to cycle the distance to cross the breadth of Uganda (486km) & we did!! WE SMASHED IT!! We got there, turned around & came 300km back. The cakes were delicious, the crafts were beautifully made, the choir's performances were as energetic & joyful as ever! Just AMAZING!! <3

I am a UK GP who grew up in South Africa and has a passion for working in healthcare in Africa. I have been part of the team who have been establishing Destiny Medical Centre since 2012, after a medical mission there showed me how grave the need for good healthcare is in Uganda.
