Story

We went for the photo with the matching red shirt and red socks. Many will remember Dennis for his love of red - red shirts, red cars and red wine to name a few!
Fiercely competitive, he relished knocking your croquet ball off the green. He loved a good debate and of course, he was always right. He was patriotic, made the most of the British countryside, climbing mountains and hiking long distance paths; he also enjoyed travelling and cruised the world. He was a sociable fellow, from gang shows to square dancing and he enjoyed the odd dram of whiskey with good friends.
Dennis dedicated a lot of time to others, particularly to the Scouts as venture scout leader in 2nd/9th. His accountancy skills were in high demand for a number of groups and friends. A great organiser and a doer, he sat on many a committee and got things done.
Sadly, on 7 September 2018 Dennis passed away. Having fought prostate cancer and bladder cancer, we were shocked to find that secondary cancer had taken hold in the lungs and liver and he died shortly after with his family around him.
In his memory we would like to collect funds for two good causes that were important to him: firstly, to donate towards SURE (Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment) for Musgrove hospital in Devon where he was treated; and secondly, toward the restoration of the Yarcombe Baptist Chapel and reading room where he invested much of his time and hard work, a place that became a second family and the work on which was his special project. We would be grateful of all donations, whatever size, and will distribute between the two. Thanks in advance, Rosemary, Gary and Helen.
