Help fund our charity concert!

We aim to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and provide a grand piano for the new Hospice of Hope center in Adunații-Copăceni near Bucharest.

***The Deepest Concert, December 16th in Salina Turda will raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and feature works by Chopin, Verdi, Donizetti and Tosti from international Tenor Neil Latchman, and an original composition from concert pianist Alex Stobbs who himself struggles with Cystic Fibrosis. After the concert, the piano will be transported over Transylvania and presented as a gift to the Hospices of Hope near Bucharest.

The Deepest Concert is the first of two concerts with one common goal: to fight Cystic Fibrosis.

The Highest Concert will take place in June 2018 in the Zanskar Range of mountains in the Himalayas where Camden Piano Rescue originally gave a small upright piano in 2014 to a village school.

***Why Cystic Fibrosis? (CF.)

This is an illness that affects many children receiving care from Hospices of Hope in Romania.

There is a clinic (Salt Cave) in the Salina Turda facility that specialises in helping to alleviate breathing problems. And Alex Stobbs, who is himself affected by CF. will be performing work by Chopin who is believed to have also suffered from CF. .

***Why the Himalayas for second concert?

According to Desmond, who runs Desmond Gentle Pianos at Camden Piano Rescue and who travelled there in 2014, “At high altitude you realise what it is like to struggle for each breath you take and to be dependent on the care of others. The experience is an eye opener for those of us who are normally strong and healthy.”

Fundraising details

The Featured Artists are generously providing their services for free.

The rest of the team are volunteering their services for free.

The Piano will be a gift from Camden Market.

Transport from London to Romania for the grand piano and from the salt mine to Bucharest will be 1,500 pounds. Accommodation and flights for the full team will be 1,150 pounds.

The concert aims to raise these costs plus 2,000+ for the Cystic Fibrosis Trusts.

Any extra raised above the target figure will be shared equally between the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and future costs for the Highest Concert in the Himalayas.
