    Story

Thank you for visiting our fund raising page

Southport Hesketh Round Table , family and friends of Dean have chosen to support the work of two amazing local charities that support those affected by blood cancer,

Former Chairman Dean Wilson is currently receiving treatment for Acute Myloid Leukaemia at Clatterbridge Centre Liverpool, Dean has spent nearly 5 months in hospital (including a spell in HDU) in his battle with blood cancer and has received world class care from the team at Clatterbridge.

Dean is now waiting for a stem cell transplant and is making good progress.

To thank the amazing team at Clatterbridge and raise the funds for the charities that assist their patients, members of Southport Hesketh Round Table, friends and family have decided to cycle from Southport to all three Clatterbridge Centre’s in Aintree, Wirral and Liverpool city centre in one day, whilst this is a modest target of 6-7 hours in the saddle (approx 70 miles) for the experienced cyclist, most members taking part are not experienced cyclists and this will represent quite a challenge believe me!

Please help us reach our target of £1500 each for The Candice Colley Foundation and The Bloom Appeal.

    Thank you

Welcome to The Candice Colley Foundation

We are a small charity launched in April 2011 in memory of 23 year old Candice Colley who lost her 4 year battle with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia) in December 2010.

Candice was a remarkable young woman whose courage inspired many people to join the Bone Marrow Register and who wanted to raise awareness about Leukaemia and the need for Bone Marrow Donations.https://www.candicecolley.co.uk/

The Bloom Appeal provide support to patients, medical staff who require urgent assistance at this difficult time. http://www.thebloomappeal.org.uk/

Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 25%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.

Thank you to everyone who has got behind the On yer bike blood cancer bike ride, the ride is next Saturday and I’ve been overwhelmed by the support from family friends and round table guys . We’ve adjusted the target accordingly to 6K which would be beyond amazing to achieve for these local blood cancer charities who provide very practical help to people experiencing this disease that really does disrupt lives in such an invasive way. I hope to be up to seeing all the riders off next Saturday and look forward to when I can do it myself. Dean

Just a quickie to say a huge thanks! We have just got to 2K , two thirds of the way to target (wahey!) So the plan is to get me in for the transplant early July , the procedure is a relatively simple , the key it seems is to keep free of infections . That means staying in the room and a receiving a constant supply of antibiotics and anti rejection meds. Hopefully its a just a 5 week stay in hospital but it can be longer. Just wanted to say a massive thanks to my wife Annie , she's always got my back and has been my rock through this! x

Thank you to everyone who has supported the bike ride, we are well over £1000 and on track to hit our target of £3000, I've tried to thank everyone personally for their contributions but would like to thank the people who have donated anonymously that I've not spoken to. I'm still waiting for my transplant date but feeling well, its keeping me going to have more get on board and offer to do the cycle ride and many have started their training already. Its proving to be a good target for some to lose the lockdown weight! Thanks again! Dean
