Story
On 31st May 2021 14 year old Dea-John Reid was hunted by a lynch mob in Kingstanding following a previous altercation with some other youngsters which had been completely diffused and was stabbed to death after being subject to racial abuse.
He was hunted by 2 male adults in their 30’s and 3 boys who were all white.
During this hunt he was subjected to extreme racial abuse in the street in public whilst being chased and then eventually stabbed to death for which a 15-year-old boy was they only person to be convicted of manslaughter. For the record all parties were found not guilty of murder.
One of the adults even admitted in open court on the record that he had used disgusting racial abuse as described by the Judge at the trial whilst claiming he was not a racist.
Whilst an admission was made the adult concerned was found “Not Guilty” of murder and despite the whole scenario was likened to a scene from “Mississippi Burning”.
No further action can be taken against the individual concerned unless it is in the civil courts.
Since the merging of the Race relations act into the Equality Act 2010, race has been at the bottom of the agenda, we would contend and as such we call for the Government to introduce legislation reinstating a stand alone race Relations and Civil Rights Act that specifically can address racial discrimination and also incidents such as these where the civil and human rights of a 14 year old black boy Dea-John Reid were violated prior to him being stabbed to death.
