I've raised £2350 to purchase a memorial bench to be placed in Central Park Scunthorpe for Daz Martin and Gareth ‘Ned’ Nedoszytko

💙💙I Now have the final estimate for the bench which comes to £2160 including VAT. This includes the cost of the bespoke design. Although higher than initially anticipated I hope youll agree from the photos below the design looks fantastic. Ive increased our target to £2350 as this will cover the just giving fees. The bench is being made in Leicester and will be ready 4 weeks after ive placed the order. The order will be placed on the 10th April (10 days after this page closes and I can withdraw the funds)💙💙
This just giving page has been set up in the memory of our colleagues and good friends Darren 'Dazzler' Martin and Gareth 'Ned’ Nedoszytko. Both served in Scunthorpe for many years in uniform before moving onto the pro active team and in the case of Ned latterly the OSS and then firearms.
Both died tragically 2 years apart in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
The time now seems right to organise a fitting tribute in order to uphold their memory. In consultation with the family and friends of both Daz and Ned we have come up with the idea of having a bespoke bench designed to commemorate both colleagues (please see some design ideas below). Although still in the early idea stage the bench will be made of a mixture of steel and wood for longevity. Ideas at the minute involve incorporating a blue steel line across the back of the bench, the queens badge centrally and both Daz and Ned's collar numbers into the iron work on the sides. There will be no direct reference to Humberside Police or the fact they were police officers to prevent vandalism. The final design however is still in the early stages and I am in consultation with a number of bespoke fabricators. Please feel free to add any suggestions or ideas in the comments box!
I have contacted North Lincolnshire Council who have kindly agreed that the bench can be placed in Central Park Scunthorpe. We feel this is an ideal location as not only is it a well kept and popular family area it is in central location for friends and family to visit. I am meeting with the local authority this week to look at an exact location but with both Daz and Ned being keen fitness fanatics a suggestion has been to place the bench on the park run trail and facing near to the football pitches.
If we were to pass our target any surplus funds left after purchasing the bench will be donated to a charity decided by Daz and Neds families.
Thankyou in advance for your donation.
