My best mate of more than 50 years is now in a care home suffering from this terrible Dementia disease. Memory loss is bad enough, but he has lost the ability to walk and there is nothing that can be done for him, that is the worse thing. He is 83, just a month younger than me, so I have decided that my annual Vespa ride will this year be a Coast to Coast journey starting from Liverpool and photographing the most Northerly, Easterly, Southern and Westerly places in England. This should take me 5 days and I will cover nearly 1500 miles in the hope that my family, friends and others would like to donate to my cause. All monies raised will be split with The Alzheimer's Society and Dementia UK and every penny donated will go to these excellent charities in the hope that a cure can be found and families can be looked after.
