Story
Malindi Bright Future is a not for profit primary school operating within the Kenyan Education system. It was fouded in 2015 by Ruth Smith ,a Jersey teacher, with 5 children and 2 staff. It now has ♉️ 275 children and 18 staff including 2 cooks. The school has a food programme, funded by a Jersey charity which provides breakfast and lunch for all the staff and pupils at the School. The food is cooked in a makeshift temporary kitchen built by the two cooks and supervised by the Headteacher.
The Friends of Malindi Bright Future Academy is a Jersey registered charity, number 328.
Following discussions between the trustees of MBFA and the Principal and senior management of Highlands College the College has agreed to fund a permanent kitchen at the School at cost of £15k.
Highlands College is the centre for higher, further and university education on the island of Jersey. It has 4500 pupils and 350 staff. It has a strong hospitality faculty with a particuar strength in catering. It is hoped that the fundraiising apeal will lead to stong links between the two organistions in training and secondment.
