Story

Hey everyone!

It's that time again... time for me to lace up my running shoes, hit the pavement, and *hopefully* avoid another trip to the hospital! 😅 First up, I'll be tackling the Three Peaks Challenge in September 2024, followed by a charity boxing match and a half marathon in November 2024. Then, in 2025, I'll be running the London Marathon. Throughout these challenges, I'm on a mission to raise money for two incredible charities: Elsie’s Rose and Helping Homeless Veterans.

Now, before you start thinking I've gone completely mad, let me explain. Yes, I’m currently tipping the scales at 17 stone, so there's a fair bit of me to get around those 26.2 miles. But hey, that's what makes it a challenge, right? Plus, my last marathon ended with a dramatic visit to the hospital (I'm fine, thanks for asking!), so the bar for improvement is set pretty low. 😜

Why These Charities?

Elsie’s Rose is a charity close to my heart, providing vital support and care to families affected by life-limiting illnesses. Their work is nothing short of miraculous, offering comfort and hope during the toughest times.

Helping Homeless Veterans does exactly what it says on the tin: they support our brave veterans who have fallen on hard times, providing housing, employment support, and a path to a better life. These heroes deserve our utmost respect and assistance.

What Can You Do?

I'm not just asking for your money (though, let's be honest, it would be great if you could donate a bit!). I also need your encouragement, your cheerleading, and maybe even some gentle reminders to stick to my training plan. If you see a guy resembling a human tortoise lumbering through your neighbourhood, give me a wave and if you want to buy me a drink its a vodka, soda and freshly squeezed lime.

Your donation, big or small, will make a massive difference to these charities. Plus, it'll give me the motivation to keep going, knowing that I'm not just running for myself but for all the people these charities help.

The Goal

My target is to raise £1,500. It sounds like a lot, but with your support, I know we can smash it. Think of every pound as a little push helping me cross that finish line with all limbs intact this time.

How to Donate

Simply click the 'Donate' button on this page. It's quick, easy, and you'll get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing you've done something amazing today.

Thank you so much for your support, and see you at the finish line (or the pub afterward, which is equally important)!

Cheers,

Dave

P.S. If you want to keep up with my training misadventures, follow me on social media. Expect lots of sweaty selfies, inspirational quotes, and the occasional rant about blisters.
