It's with great sadness, that last Saturday, a dear friend and one of the Empire Amateur Boxing Club's most recognised amateur Boxers (ever) Darren Thompson was sadly found, passed away at his home.

Details as to how or why, are yet to be announced, However Darren really was one of life's real characters, bringing laughter to everyone, wherever he went, (often at his own expense).

The Empire Boxing Gym where many young guys spent most of their spare adolescence, was never a dull place when Tiger Thompson was about and what remains in most attendees memory about Darren, from all the tournaments, trips and national contest's, was perhaps, just how fit he was, winning most of his fights, simply by out working his opponents, at a pace that few could ever match.

Our heart felt condolences truly go out to Darren's Dad, (Alan Thompson) who trained many 100's if not 1000's of young boxers at the Empire abc over many decades, producing many amateur & Proffesional Champions and who continues to do so and also Darren's mum (Sue), who has selflessly lost Alan to the Empire Boxing gym for an unquantifiable amount of time, enabling Alan to help influence and guide 1000's of young men, for the better, by channeling them, through the sport of Boxing.

It's because of this, that we are putting together this (Just Giving page) to raise enough funds, to give Darren The Tiger Thompson the best possible send off that he deserves.
