We are a group of Darren’s friends who are focused and committed to raising funds towards buying Darren a ReWalk machine.

Darren had a life changing accident in June 2020 when he suffered a compression injury to his spine, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. After spending six months at Stoke Mandeville Hospital going through intensive rehabilitation, it was apparent that Darren would not regain the use of his legs, and despite his continuous efforts it looked like the chance to walk unaided was never going to be an option to him.

Then we came across the ReWalk. This is a state-of-the-art exoskeleton, that gives Darren the chance to not only stand again, but to walk and climb stairs. This incredible piece of technology goes some way to making his life as normal and independent as possible. One of the major benefits of this exoskeleton is the rehabilitation. Being able to stand and walk will take Darren’s rehab to another level, giving his entire body the chance to maintain strength and balance.

The very kind folk at ReWalk have kindly allowed us to rent an older machine for Darren to train with and learn how to walk again. Unfortunately, such sophisticated technology doesn’t come cheap, and the monthly rental fee of £3,250 means we’ve turned to fundraising to ensure Darren can continue to use the ReWalk. Thankfully though the monthly fees will be deducted from the price of a brand new machine.

We have set up a Just Giving Crowdfunding page where every single penny raised through fundraising events and donations will go towards the rental and eventual purchase of Darren’s very own ReWalk. Every donation along the way, really will make a significant difference and is very much appreciated.

This page will be updated regularly with the latest developments and fundraising events whilst following Darren’s continuing journey learning to use and adapting to life with the ReWalk.
