    Story

Dark Devices is a Feature Film which is dark, gritty and true to life which will follow 12 year old Lucy who gets pulled into the underworld of Online Grooming.

This film will also brings to the spotlight many other key issues that people face daily. e.g, Mental Health, Addiction, Neglect, A Mothers struggle, Bullying and Childhood Trauma which has then became problematic into adulthood. With the main focus highlighting Online grooming, a subject that still seems to be a Taboo subject even this day and age, that needs to be spoken about more openly. This is real life and it does and has happened to many more people than you probably realise.

It will show honest accounts of all the above issues that very brave people came forward and spoke to the writer about, meaning elements of this film will be based on lived experiences and is due for release in 2023.

With Scottish favourites like Callum Beattie and Dee Maxwell as part of the cast with many professional actors, it will also give many adults and children their first ever screen experience. Making many dreams come true! It was all started by this little girl (pictured below) who was 10 at the time but now 11 years old who wanted to help other children from working class backgrounds, single parent backgrounds, circumstances like her own where Financially and for other reasons they possibly would never of been able to get a foot into what is a massively competitive world. The Acting Industry.

'Comedian / Actress Dee Maxwell on set'

At the young age of 11 years old Sophie knows the price, sacrifices parents have to make to try make their children's dreams come true and she wanted others to have the opportunity she got herself. During Lockdown 2020 Sophie asked her parent..

Do you think I could act professionally?

In which her reply she got was....

If you work hard and believe in yourself you can do anything you want to!

And she did along with help from her mum. 2 weeks later she got her first professional acting job which was a Short Campaign Film and Tv Commercial. Since then Sophie had always said if she gets a 'big paid job' she would pay for another child's acting lessons. That big job hasn't came yet! So she asked her mum 'How else could we help' that sparked a conversation about doing a film and casting children from her own community, which started as a Short Film, then turned into a Feature Film as her mum had a passion for writing. Many children from different backgrounds have now been cast, as well as many adults both professional and debut actors. She brought a community together to help fundraise, with the Local community Arts Charity 'Whale Arts' supplying the catering and use of their premises for free. With many cast and crew coming on the project as they believe not only what Sophie wanted to do but the message within the film, which will really educate parents on the dangers children face online from Online grooming.

Co-Directors Fraser F. McGowen and Jay Alexander Ali on set.

This is why we want to make the premiere screening of 'Dark Devices' extra special. Some quotes from Parents.

You have no idea what you have done for my child, I can't thank you enough for giving her this opportunity. You are all the kindest people I know.

I just want to say a massive thank you for believing in my daughter and her being a part of a movie, with a talking role and making her dream come true. All the cast, crew and parents were all amazing and I am so thankful to you all. I have never seen her smile so much in one day.

Best part of my career being in a scene with the only man I trust in the whole planet, my son. Thank you.

You have made my son's dream come true and now we have just managed to get an agent and I truly believe it is down to him having this Feature Film credit. Thank you.

There were so many happy faces on set, that just warms the heart. Some pictures BTS below.

Over 50 children have been attached to this project and 66+ adults, as well as 36 crew, marshals, production, BTS. It has been a massive project done through public fundraising and a single parent from a council estate and her 11 year old child the backbone of it. Block 1 was filmed in May and we have raised enough to finish the project for Block 2 filming in August this year. Then off to editing, composing, colour grading, everything else that post production needs.

We now just want to give the last experience of making dreams come true, walking the red carpet and maybe a little reward.

    DIVERSITY, INCLUSION , EQUALITY

No matter you're background or situation, believe in yourself, then others will. Work hard and you can achieve your dreams.

When a child wants to change the world, or wants to help others us as adults should stand together and help anyway we can to encourage the kindness shown. So many have done this with this project and it has already changed lives.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT. WITHOUT YOU THIS WOULD STILL BE A DREAM.

MUCH LOVE FROM THE DARK DEVICES FAMILY.
