Story
Danny Seales 1973-2020
This page is set up to celebrate the life of one of the most beautiful humans to enter this world. Danny brought a huge amount of happiness to anyone who was fortunate enough to meet him. Danny always made you feel the most special person in the world, his infectious smile and cheeky personality would bring happiness and positivity to everyone he knew, that is why Danny had so many close friends, his personality was addictive.
Danny was a true waterman, from the age of 12 from his home beach of Shoreham he dreamed of becoming a Professional Windsurfer, skipping school if it was windy and catching lifts to the beach with his friends. At the age of 14 he joined a young Nik Baker and his Dad to follow his dreams with his first trip to Maui, Hawaii.
Those first experiences of powerful hollow waves set the direction for the rest of Danny's life, chasing wind and big waves around the world. Danny competed all around the world, most notably becoming British Wavesailing Champion and joining the Trilogy Windsurfing Tour which visited the most radical waves around the world, Danny at one point was ranked 5th in this star studded Tour.
His success made him a target for sponsorship from global windsurfing companies who wanted to use Dannys amazing talent and good looks to market their products, his biggest deal coming from Fanatic who paid Danny to live and train in Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands.
The move to the Canary Islands would open up a whole new chapter in Dannys amazing life, Danny loved the North Shore of 'Fuerte', this was the Hawaii of Europe and Danny was focussed on becoming one of the best windsurfers on the planet. Danny dominated the powerful beachbreak of Cotillo, Spew Pits, Majanicho and Acid Drop, still to this day nobody has even come close to the level of windsurfing at these breaks that Danny performed so effortlessly everyday.
Windsurfing almost came too easy to Danny, some might say he peaked way too early but those that knew Danny knew he wanted to face a new challenge, Kitesurfing.
It did not take long for Danny and his best friend Marcus to become the pioneers of kitesurfing in Fuerteventura and soon Danny was travelling the world competing on the kitesurfing World Tour and once again getting paid to do the sports he loved.
It was during his time on Fuerteventura that Danny fell in love with his beautiful girlfriend Sam and together they set up their home on the island and soon the sound of the pitter patter of tiny feet filled their home in Lajares, the birth of their much loved daughter India. Danny absolutely adored India, she immediately became Danny's number 1 love in life, and she will always be his number 1 love in life, Danny always wore his heart on his sleeve but his love for his daughter ran through his body and he was immensely proud of the beautiful women India is today.
Like many top athletes in sport, Danny only wanted to be remembered for being the very best and at the top of his profession, so after sustaining numerous injuries he took the hard decision to turn his back on his sports he loved so dearly and move back to the UK.
Despite Danny and Sam splitting up they both shared their love for their daughter India, they remained friends and committed parents and have brought up the most beautiful young lady that any parent would be proud of, kind, respectful, beautiful and loving, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree when you have parents like Danny and Sam!
Danny was so happy that Sam met a wonderful man in Russ who he knew would be a great step dad to India and caring husband to Sam.
The shocking news this week of the death of Danny has left us all with a huge void in our lives, particularly for his beautiful daughter India. Personally Danny was my best friend, he would do anything for me, and likewise me for him, Danny is Godfather to my eldest daughter Skye, a free gift of a personal bodyguard we would joke!
Danny is going to be missed by us all, but we should all take comfort that Danny lived every single day of his 46 years to the max, he really was put on this earth for the good times, he loved life, no matter what was thrown at him Danny genuinely went about it with a massive smile on his face which in turn put a smile on the face of everyone around him. If we all can take away anything from Danny is his positivity, he was never jealous of what other people had or did, if he saw you do something cool or rad he would tell you how amazing it was, he would always pay you a compliment as soon as he greeted you, he made everyone feel very special, if we all try to lead our own lives more like Danny did then I think the world will be a brighter place.
I realise I have not mentioned by name so many very close friends and loved ones of Danny but to be honest the list is far too long, we all had our own special relationship and memories of Danny and I think we will all have our own way of mourning for Danny.
So please feel free to leave your own message for Danny here, you do not have to leave a gift but rest assured any donation will go towards a proper memorial for Danny and towards the future he always wished for India.
We love you Danny XXX
