I've raised £10000 to help Danny Gosset

On the 16th of August 2019, footballer Danny Gosset was given the devastating news that, what he initially thought was a typical football injury, was in fact a type of blood cancer known as Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Danny Gosset is a professional footballer at Bala Town FC and one of the most respected players in the Welsh football pyramid. He began his career with Oldham Athletic making two appearances in the Football League and represented Stockport County FC on loan before his release. Danny has also represented his country at International C level and represented TNS, Bangor City, Cefn Druids and Rhyl
At the back end of last season, Danny started suffering from a dull ache in his left hip. In April 2019 he visited his GP and was referred for an x-ray at his local hospital, Ysbyty Gwynedd. The x-ray did not pick up anything unusual and was therefore referred back to his GP for further blood tests which also did not detect any unusual signs.
In July 2019 Danny was due back at his football club, Bala Town FC for pre-season training. The injury wasnt showing any sign of improvement and he was unable to participate in training and was therefore under the care of the club’s physiotherapist Fiona Evans.
Following a couple of sessions with the physio and the hip still painful and definitely not right, this prompted Fiona to make arrangements with the club to get Danny booked in for a private MRI scan which detected abnormalities within the femur.
Following the MRI results Danny was referred to the specialist bone unit at Gobowen, where further scans and a biopsy were taken. This resulted in the shock diagnosis of a B-Cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that develops when white blood cells called lymphocytes grow out of control. Lymphocytes are part of your immune system. They travel around your body in your lymphatic system, helping you fight infections. The cause is unknown.
Danny is currently going through chemotherapy in the hope that this will shrink the tumour, and this will then be followed by radiotherapy at the world-renowned Christie hospital in Manchester.
Danny is one of the nicest people you are likely to meet, and I have never heard anyone say anything different about him.
Danny runs his own barbering business along side myself which he has excelled at during the last few years, but in light of his recent diagnosis things have changed dramatically for him as he’s unable to work due to the treatment and being on crutches.
Danny has set a target to be back playing by the end of the season. His strong mindset and determination clearly shows the winning mentality of a professional athlete. But it’s his selflessness to want to highlight how important it is the get injuries checked out professionally no matter how innocuous they may seem.
The reason behind this page and the fundraising events is to help Danny and his family through this difficult time, offering both emotional and financial support, and to raise money and awareness to various cancer charities along with the hospital he is receiving fantastic treatment at.
In support of Danny and various other cancer charities he plans to work with, numerous fundraising events will be taking place over the next year, starting with a member of Danny’s family taking part in the Cardiff half marathon on the 6th of October 2019.
All updates of fundraising events and Danny’s progress will be posted on this page throughout his treatment.
Thank you for supporting Danny and his family.
