Story

Nelson was once an extremely active and energetic boy who loved chasing balls and playing with his brother Max. Sadly he is now in dire need of his second knee reconstruction surgery in the past 2 years.
I rescued my handsome boy 7.5 years ago here in Norwich, Norfolk from a rehoming shelter. He was 5 months old, was skinny, unloved, confused and had spent the start of his little life locked in a shed, along with the rest of the litter.
Nelson grew into a beautiful, noble, loyal dog, and my best friend. We visit Norfolk's beaches, forests and parks together. I've tried to give him the best life a dog could ask for, no expense ever spared. I personally funded nearly £3000 worth of vet bills for his last leg surgery, but I just cannot do it again, try as I might.
Given that Nelson is half Labrador and half German Shepard, his joints are sadly prone to deterioration, wear and tear and ligament injuries. This combined with his desire to be hugely active has taken it's toll, and he has torn his ACL, which is one of the key ligaments that helps stabilize the knee joint.
Nelson needs to have his right knee completely reconstructed and pinned together in order to be able to use his leg again freely. He currently cannot put any weight through his right back leg and is in constant discomfort. Pain relief is of course being used but this has side effects too, potential kidney and liver problems down the line and is just not sustainable for his organs or his quality of life.
Please help me to help my boy. Although he may never run on Norfolk's beaches again, dive into the sea after skimming stones or chase tennis balls, he can have a much better quality of life post surgery.
Taverham Vets, in Norwich, quoted me £3000.
My insurance has a limit of £1000.
I'm hoping to raise £1500 to add to my own contribution.
Any assistance would be hugely helpful, Nelson & I would be forever grateful.
