    Story

Two years ago, Dan Atkins (founder of Buses4Homeless) discovered a gentleman sleeping rough in a luggage storage compartment of a coach. This distressed Dan immensely.

Later that day, he bought a double-decker bus and began refurbishing it into a home for the gentleman. Fast-forward two years, they are now very good friends and gladly the gentleman is back in employment, has a roof over his head and is happy.

That got Dan thinking… We can help in this way, but on a much bigger scale.

The Buses4Homeless project is looking to raise £160,000 to refurbish 4 buses into spaces for Sleeping, Eating and Learning.

Two vehicles will be converted into #Buses4Shelter, sleeping up to 40 homeless Veterans per night (14,600/yr).

One vehicle will be converted into #Buses4Dining, providing meals for the Veterans.

The final vehicle will be converted into #Buses4Learning, offering personal development and online vocational courses in order to help equip our homeless Guests with tools to re-engage and reintegrate into the community.

With your support, we can help those less fortunate with the first truly holistic approach to homelessness; a cause in desperate need of our help and attention.

    #HELP4SIM

The #Help4Sim campaign was where the idea for the #Buses4Homeless project was conceived.

Here's our friend Sim and the bus that we brought him 2 years back. This was the day we picked it up.

2 years on Sim has a home, full time employment and is extremely happy that we're doing #Buses4Homeless on a much bigger scale to help more people like him.

Sadly though, his 'kids' (the 3 dogs) didn't get to come with him. One of them had to be put down and the other 2 had to be rehoused by another charity.

    CHRISTMAS SANTA SACK HANDOUT

On the 21st of December we teamed up with a group of amazing women from Cobham to do a Santa Sack handout on the streets of London. We were BLOWN AWAY by the generosity of friends and family!

We had 100 very large Santa Sacks filled to the brim with essentials as well as 100 brand new sleeping bags and well over 500 pieces of pre-loved clothing. It was one of the proudest days of all of our lives and there wasn't a dry eye on board.

CEO Sleepout @ Lords Cricket Ground

One of the things that changed my perspective VERY fast was taking part in a CEO Sleepout at Lords Cricket Ground in November. It was FREEZING and not enjoyable at all.

In fact at the end of it I literally was overcome with emotion at the thought that there are people out there everyday that don't get to go home to a warm flat, get into a warm shower and then into a warm safe bed.

It was a day that I will NEVER forget.

    #HAIRCUTS4HOMELESS Launch

On the 23rd October - 5-9pm we were joined by celebrities, media and hoards of volunteers to help our homeless friends with something as simple as a Haircut. The team were blown away by what such a simple gesture can do for the spirits of someone sleeping rough on the streets of London.

Here's some of the pics from our #Haircuts4Homeless event where celebrity stylists came and helped bring pride to a score of homeless people.
