    Story

The Cycling Farmer and the Forager

Hello! My name is Nick Bragg and I'm going to cycle 1,000 miles in 10 days to raise funds for The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution. But I won't be doing it alone, I'll be joined by my trusty Krone BiG X Forager as we journey from The Northumberland County Show on the 25th of May to our final stop at The Royal Cornwall Show on the 5th of June!

I thrive on challenges and love fundraising, especially for the fantastic work of the RABI. They provide crucial support for the farming community, and this challenge is all about raising awareness for their services – both within the agricultural world and beyond.

    The Mission:

This time, it's different. Forget vast distances (like my epic Canadian mission !), this challenge pairs a farmer with their essential farm equipment: Krone's BiG X Forager! Pedal power meets farm machinery for a fundraising challenge like no other.

We'll be hitting the road on the 25th of May, visiting agricultural shows, farm shops, and fellow farms during our 1,000-mile mission. It's a chance to not only connect with the farming community and celebrate the incredible work they do, but also raise awareness for mental health struggles faced by farmers.

As a farmer myself, I know the challenges faced by the farming community all too well. Running a farm can be all-consuming, as it's your home, business, and entire life. While I love it deeply, sometimes you just need a break. Exercise works wonders for me, clearing my head and getting me off the farm. However many farmers still struggle with loneliness and mental health issues that farming brings. Thankfully, RABI is there to offer support.

    The Krone Forage Harvester:

My trusty partner for this adventure is none other than... Krone's BiG X Forager! Though it might seem like an unlikely companion, a forager is a vital piece of farm machinery. It processes crops for winter feed or renewable energy, keeping farms running year-round.

Through our amazing local dealership, Compass Tractors, we've secured sponsorship from Krone UK. They're a trusted name in farm equipment and a true partner in this challenge.

Joining me will be Tris and Graham, along with other members of the Frogmary team. We might even have some surprise guests tagging along!

    The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution:

The R.A.B.I. provides support to the farming community across England and Wales through practical, financial and emotional assistance, touching the lives of thousands of people every year. Whether it’s giving expert advice on benefits potentially available to farming people or accessing mental health support, RABI is committed to addressing the individual needs of farming people.

The range of support RABI can provide is huge, ranging from supporting with financial grants to aid independent living, through to representing an individual with the Department for Work and Pensions. Every year, RABI awards around £3 million of direct financial support each year and supports thousands of farming people through practical assistance and emotional support services.

    How You Can Help:

Your donations, big or small, will make a massive difference in supporting the RABI's work. Every contribution helps ensure farmers have the support they need through tough times and gives me the pedal power to finish my challenge.

Please donate what you can and share this page with your network to spread the word!

    Follow our Journey:

Stay tuned for updates on our progress! We'll be sharing photos, stories, and experiences along the way through social media (@Frogmarygreenfarm on facebook and @Frogmarygreen on Instagram).

Or come say hi! We'll be stopping at these locations:

Northumberland County Show // Fodder Farm Shop & Café, Yorkshire County Showground // Fletchers On The Farm, Peak District // Sharmans Of Grantham // The Suffolk Show // Adcock Agri, Chelmsford // Goodwood Farm Shop, Chichester // Blandford Forum (location still to be confirmed) // Compass Tractors, Bridgwater // Strawberry Fields Farm Shop, Lifton // Royal Cornwall Show // Royal Welsh Show

Together, let's support the farming community and show them they're not alone!
