Story

en suicide claimed the life of Steve Phillip's 34 year old son, Jordan, one recurring memory would always resurface whenever Steve went out cycling. In September 2019, Steve was participating in a gruelling 80Kms, all-comers cycle sportif, aligned to the UCI World Championships taking place in Yorkshire for the first time.

As Steve approached Leeds and the final kilometres of the ride, he turned a corner and there was Jordan and his girlfriend, Charlotte, cheering him on. 10 weeks later, Jordan would take his own life at his home in Horsforth near Leeds.

On Friday, June 14th, in partnership with Rugby League Cares Foundation and The Jordan Legacy CIC 's collaborative partner "Towards Zero Suicide CIC ", founded by Paul Vittles, the #ZeroSuicideSociety #JoinTheDotsTour is putting on an all-comers, fundraising cycle ride - all funds raised will go towards supporting the tour and its mission to help us move towards a 'Zero Suicide Society', which by our definition is one that is willing to do all it can to prevent all preventable suicides.

The ride is a non-competitive event over 34 miles - 34 being the age Jordan was when he took his own life.

Starting at Weetwood Hall Hotel, near Horsforth, Leeds, where Jordan lived, riders will follow a 34-mile circular route to Wakefield, returning to the original start point.

At Thomson's Yard in Wakefield, riders will stop for refreshments and a loo break, courtesy of Jordan's former colleagues at the Independent Office for Police Conduct, before making their way back to Weetwood Hall Hotel. Jordan is much missed by his colleagues and since his death, they have renamed their office tuck-shop and called it 'Jordan's Place' - it's a place where some of them often spend a quiet few moments remembering their friend and colleague.

Riders will then make their way the short distance back to Weetwood Hall Hotel where they have very generously agreed to open up the Lawnswood Bar - another poignant moment as Lawnswood Cemetry is where Jordan's funeral was held.
