Story

Cross Keys Silver band are a village brass band located near Newport in South Wales. On Sunday the 16th of February, the band were informed that our rehearsal room had fallen victim to Storm Dennis. The Ebbw River had burst it’s banks resulting in severe flooding in the bandroom.

The band have suffered a huge loss as a result of this flood. Our percussion is ruined, chairs are sodden and dirty, stands were knocked down and as a result music was thrown into the water. Potentially worst of all is the library, where at least half of our collection has been lost to water damage coming up 2ft up the metal containers.

Instruments have also been severly damaged with a few of our tubas which had been left in over night taking the brunt of it.

As well as the bands equipment, our heating system, electrics and many other aspects have been destroyed by the storm and the above photo shows just how high the water got.

Any money donations will be greatly appreciated. If you have anything else you would like to donate to help the band rebuild, it would also be greatfuly accepted.
