Story

In the heart of the serene countryside near Tenby lies a testament to the power of resilience and compassion – a 200-year-old property transformed from disrepair to a haven of hope. What began as a personal journey of restoration has blossomed into a visionary initiative to empower individuals from all walks of life.

Five years ago, amidst the crumbling walls and overgrown fields of my smallholding, I found solace and purpose. But my return to Pembrokeshire was not just about reclaiming a piece of land; it was a response to a pressing need within my family. My sister Lucy, a high-functioning individual with Down syndrome, was struggling to find fulfillment and companionship. Witnessing her challenges ignited a fire within me to create a place where individuals like Lucy could flourish.

As a former military veteran, I had experienced firsthand the healing power of nature on mental health. Yet, I discovered a glaring gap in support services for both special needs adults and veterans in our area. Determined to fill this void, I embarked on a mission to transform my smallholding into a sanctuary for healing and growth.

Through perseverance and dedication, I navigated the labyrinth of government support systems to secure the assistance my family desperately needed. Today, Lucy thrives in a supported living environment, her laughter echoing through the fields that surround our home.

But our vision extends far beyond personal fulfillment. We are building a community farm and equine-assisted therapy center where individuals of all abilities can find acceptance and purpose. Our animal residents, each with their own tale of resilience and redemption, serve as beacons of hope for those who visit us.

From an ex-racehorse labeled as "dangerous" to a mischievous "sh*tland" pony turned lawn mower, along with our various feathered friends (ex-battery hens); every creature embodies the spirit of transformation that defines our mission. We believe in second chances, not just for our furry and feathered friends, but for every individual who crosses our path.

With planning permission secured for stables, a sand school, and disabled-access holiday lets, we are laying the groundwork for a future of inclusivity and accessibility. Our communal area, designed to welcome members of the community without barriers, will serve as a hub of connection and collaboration.

Central to our ethos is a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. We embrace the principles of reduce, repurpose, recycle, repair, and recover in everything we do, minimizing our carbon footprint and maximizing our impact on the land and its inhabitants.

As we embark on this journey of restoration and empowerment, we invite others to join us in bridging communities and fostering a culture of acceptance and support. Together, we can create a world where every individual is valued, every dream is nurtured, and every heart finds its home.

By donating to our startup community farm, you'll be helping to empower ALN youth, veterans, and those at risk of exclusion. Your support will foster social inclusion, environmental conservation, and economic revitalization. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference and will help to build the infrastructure and facilities needed to support our community and we thank you whole heartedly for your support.
