My name is Jamie Hale, and I founded CRIPtic Arts because I never wanted anyone else to experience the discrimination, exclusion, and lack of opportunities that I have faced as a disabled artist. When I started CRIPtic, it was to make opportunities for people like me - people who were facing closed door after closed door. We exist because traditional pathways in the arts are often inaccessible to disabled people, and the arts world deserves to see the incredible work we're creating.

CRIPtic Arts is a disabled-led arts organization dedicated to breaking down the barriers that keep disabled people from participating fully in the arts. Since our founding, we’ve grown from a single show in 2019 to a development program in 2021. We now a robust array of activities including five shows this year, four development programs, and a thriving community arm. We’ve directly reached over 1,200 disabled people across the UK, creating meaningful - and exceptional - work, and strengthening and building disabled communities.

However, most of our funding is project-to-project, and project-specific. This means that we're constantly applying for funding to deliver work, and don't have the flexibility to spend money on the things we think are important. In order to take CRIPtic to the next level, where we're co-producing shows, touring work, and building bigger communities, we need money we can spend where we need to, whether that's people, programmes, possibilities - or access. And that's where you come in.
