Story

Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau is a charity that was founded in 1991. We successfully run the Community Car Scheme whereby volunteer drivers transport those who need assistance getting to medical appointments all over the UK, The Welsh Ambulance Service use our car scheme as an overflow for their patients.

We also run over 30 social groups a month, again run by volunteers. The social groups are a life line for many of our local older generation and those who suffer memory loss. Our office can also arrange for 1:1 befriending for those who cannot get out of the house and are isolated and lonely.

Since Covid, we have offered a prescription delivery service to those who are unable to collect medication themselves, again, this is a life line to many.

Alongside this and the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme, ‘Going for Gold’, where over 150 local young people participate and learn basic first aid, navigation and cooking skills while volunteering in the community. This provides a safe environment to join and learn to work as a team.

However, without funding, which is limited, and donations like yours, we will be unable to run all of the above without charging a fee for our services, this would limited those in need and ostracise many.
