I've raised £5000 to allow Libby Hume to make lasting memories with her family and for Sarcoma UK Cancer Charity

At the beginning of the year one of our club members Oliver Hume, shared some extremely sad news with us about his sister Libby. Just before Christmas, Libby who is only 19 discovered that she has a rare form of cancer called synovial sarcoma. It was initially found under her arm and she was set to receive treatment, along with surgery to have it removed.
A scan prior to her treatment showed that it had spread to her lungs and she was told it was incurable. Libby is currently undergoing chemotherapy which they are hoping will slow down the progress.
Since the diagnosis , Libby has been so brave and selfless. Just weeks after receiving the news, she had already begun raising money for both Weston Park Cancer Charity and Teenage Cancer Trust. To date Libby has raised over 4 thousand pounds with her fundraising activities, including shaving her head.
Having seen first hand the impact this has had, we as a club wanted to do something for Libby and her family. Given the significant amount of money Libby has already raised, we wanted to give something back to her.
We proposed a charity cricket game to raise money for Libby and her family to make lasting memories together. The family approached Libby about the game and whilst she was on board, in typical fashion she wanted all the money to go to charity.
There is no one more deserving than Libby and after some persuasion, it was agreed with the family that the money raised will be split between Libby and Sarcoma UK Cancer Charity, who fund research to improve treatments and the lives of those diagnosed with sarcoma.
Cricket4Cancer will take place on Sunday 28th of May, a local rivals clash between Eckington CC and Killamarsh Juniors CC. Both clubs that Libby, Oliver and their family have been associated with for many years.
The day will be filled with fundraising activities and we hope to raise a significant amount of money for two amazing causes. Everyone is welcome to attend and any donations big or small are really appreciated.
Thank you so much for your support in achieving our goal.
