Story
We are a group of parents teachers and friends who raise extra funds for the school.
In normal years we raise money at school events serving refreshments at musical productions, gym and dance evenings, Christmas carol concerts, and school discos. We organise a popular welcome BBQ for new year 7 pupils and their families, hold quiz & pizza nights and other events. Unfortunately with the onset of covid and the restrictions this has all come to an abrupt halt. When the restrictions were lifted early summer we were able to help the Music Department when they staged a wonderful outdoor music concert. However the Christmas "face to face" concert has sadly been cancelled due to new covid-19 guidance to schools.
The money we raise is donated to various school departments to buy extra equipment to enhance our children’s education. We also spend money in other areas which benefit the school. These include: New table tennis tables and bench seating for outside areas. New books for the English Dept. Amazon tablets for the MFL Dept. A Springboard for the PE dept. A Camera for Drama Department. An electric guitar for the Music Department. Money towards the scheme the school uses to reward pupils for their hard work, effort and behaviour - the scheme is used to motivate and encourage pupils and our donations have enabled the school to offer really good rewards. This has proved very popular. Donations have been made to all departments in the school so that they can spend it on what they know will be useful at grass roots level. Even things as basic as glue sticks or medals for the eisteddfod.
We recently had a lovely letter from a pupil asking for help for the GCSE Health and Social Care class, they have been fundraising towards a baby simulator and were hoping we could help too, but unfortunately our funds have run dry and on this occasion we were sadly unable to help.
We have had to cancel many events over the past couple of years, but are hoping to hold a raffle in the Spring. In the meantime if you feel you could spare a pound or two we would be very grateful.
Every penny really does make a difference.
THANK YOU
Karen Mingay, Co Chair of Corpus Christi Catholic High School PFA.
