Story
'There was no more suppressing. The gentle atmosphere of Cornwall encouraged me to let out the pain and take in some of the healing.' Hanan Wahabi, 9th floor. Mother of two and bereaved of her brother and his entire family, 21st floor.
Thank you for joining our vision which has remained the same since the facebook post which began this project a few days after Grenfell Tower Fire: 'Imagine if we could put a Cornish holiday on the horizon of every Grenfell resident and firefighter family: a time to rest, a time to let our beautiful county bless these people and work its gentle magic.'
For full detail on our work including media coverage on Channel4News, BBC Breakfast, Radio 2 and in The Sunday Times etc, please go to: www.cornwallhugsgrenfell.org/news
So far over 250 guests from W11 have come for respite holidays: Tower Survivors, the bereaved, displaced neighbours and firefighters.
This page is raising money for transport and logistics: the nuts and bolts of turning kind pledges into respite holidays: peace, rest and new memories.
Thank you for joining this vision. Cornwall Hugs Grenfell is the first (and only) campaign of charity Cornwall Hugs (charity number 1177796, approved April 201). Our trustee and treasurer is Andrew Holt, former CFO of international charity, Interhealth, who holds a diploma in charity finance and is a retired solicitor.

7 years agoSuch touching donations coming in. I wish I could contact you directly but the data protection seems to prohibit that as I can't see your emails. Thank you for giving something up, going without and just for bothering to support the work we're doing this year. 250+ guests are registered for holidays and we are working through the careful business of matching guests to accommodation as pledged. Among others, we've a group of seven survivor families coming in May and your donations are helping us put that visit together. Thank you!
