Story
MY LEFT FOOT...
11 years ago in October I suffered an 'accident', that changed my life forever. With numerous surgery's I think about 18, all in all, infections, and in and out of hospital. with metal work in my back fixing the L1 to L4 vertebrea with limited movement, in my lower left leg/ankle tib and fib fixed (no movement in ankle, which has dropped and inverted) so now walking with the aid of crutches on my tip toes, and unable to walk far due to the extreme pain I feel in both.
My pre-op is on Thursdat the 2nd of May 2019
2 years ago, I had sepsis and osteomylitis (infection of the bone) in my lower left leg and an open wound which keeps closing and opening and has now been open for 23 months now with no sign of healing.
having attended the centre for rehabilitation for amputees, I am now having a below the knee amputation which is due to take place in November (can't wait to be honest) to get my quality of life back, I will be wheelchair bound at first for a good few months before they fit a standard prosthetic, as an active individual, are looking to raise funds for equipment to improve my quality of life even further. Equipment and prosthetics are expensive.. ie 1 below the knee blade for sports, & a more advanced prosthectic leg can cost from £1500 t0 £5000 plus, and a waterproof prosthetic (ie for the shower) can cost the same if not more, ramps around the house to help with access to rooms (limited funds available on NHS) etc..
There are over 20 people a day, that are having amputations in the UK alone. So please donate anything you can.
I really would appreciate anything you can spare to help with rehabilitation and quality of life not just for myself but for other people.
As part of my recovery, will be helping people in the same situation, and will be raising awareness on mental health and amputee from people in the services to the general public and recovery.
So, I am setting up a charity called MY LEFT FOOT, which will help all amputees from all walks of life.
Helping one person might not change the world but it will change the world for one person.....
You will be able to follow my progress, challenges, recovery along with long term goals and aspirations through instagram, Facebook, Twitter and my Blog which will be launched on Monday/Tuesday next week.
If you can help please do, and pass on.......

after years of pain, I am finally getting the medical help Ive been waiting for and at the time my pain has been the worst. Then I can help others in the long term, with Disabilities and Mental Health through having the right equipment for daily living and sports
