    Story

During the Covid-19 lockdown I have been inspired by all the amazing people raising money for the NHS and I wanted to think of something that I could do to help as well. I love swimming and my ambition is to swim the Channel one day so I decided to spend my pocket money and savings on buying a big paddling pool and I am going to attempt to swim the distance in there! (My Mum has worked out that it would be about 33,796 strokes so that it what I’m aiming for!) ...... I have got off to a great start and have already swum 4500 strokes so I am on my way, but there is still a long way to go! Knowing that I am doing this for the Royal Surrey NHS staff is keeping me going. Please support me if you can. Thank you so much, Connie (age 10).

Thank you all so so much for making this such an incredible experience for Connie. To have raised nearly £2000 is beyond her wildest dreams and now she is super excited to be able to send the money to the Royal Surrey where we know it will go some way to support our incredible local hospital to tackle this terrible pandemic.

She made it to France!!!!! Connie cannot believe the support that she has been given throughout her challenge. Every donation and good wish message has pushed her to swim faster and push further...... we can’t keep her out of the paddling pool so Connie will continue to swim her heart out and who knows she may make it back to England again by the time swimming pools are back open again!!

Connie is almost in France!!!! And what better boost for her in the final stages than a personalised message from David Walliams who swam the Channel himself!!!! Thank you so much to the wonderful people at BBC Surrey Radio for all the support and of course to all the hugely generous people who have sponsored Connie...... she is totally blown away!!!!
