Story
Every year thousands of children face the 11-plus and a secondary school divide.
Theresa May did not achieve the majority she needed to change the law and create new grammar schools. We suspect that there will still be attempts to expand selection, either through ‘annexe’ schools, or covert selection such as ‘grammar streams.’
Comprehensive Future is committed to fighting academic selection in any form which is why we continue to raise funds to campaign against the 11-plus and grammar school / secondary modern divide.
Selective education subjects thousands of young children to stressful tests at the age of 11, and segregates pupils in a hugely damaging way. Children are more likely to succeed when they are taught together in high quality all-ability schools.
The funds we raise with this campaign will support our work lobbying politicians, informing the public about the problems with selection, and working with schools, local authorities and communities who wish to end selective education.
Comprehensive education works and we need to give our children high quality secondary schools with no test at ten. Please donate to our campaign.

8 years agoWe're grateful for all the donations so far. More than 114,000 children take an 11-plus each year. We believe this pointless divide of 10 year olds should end. Children are more likely to succeed in all ability comprehensive schools. Please spread word of our campaign.

8 years agoThe election result means that we are still waiting to see if new grammar schools will be planned. Whatever happens with the legislation preventing new selective schools we will be keen to guard against an increase in annexe grammar expansion, and other covert means to expand selection. We are committed to fighting all forms of academic selection, and phasing out grammar schools in areas where they now operate. Thank you for all the donations to help our campaign.
