Story
“Without Llanelli Centre for the Deaf I'd not be able to communicate with my baby. How much more personal can a cause be?!
They teach us free of charge every week. They're run fully by volunteers all of which also work. I have two children - one has deafness in one ear, one has moderate severe deafness in both ears - speech will be difficult for him at best so sign language is his first language. They not only teach us; they also welcomed us into the Deaf community and have given my children an identity. Ticks the brilliant box right there too.
As for simple? Well, it's never simple learning another language and culture; but they do simply need a lot of support. They run youth clubs, adult groups, family sign sessions and so much more all on volunteers and all relying solely on community help and funding.”
