I will be running the 2017 Virgin London Marathon for one of my very closest friend's daughter Amy Barrett who on 23 June 2016 was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma in the base of her spine. Due to where it is situated it is inoperable therefore Amy is currently in America undergoing Proton Beam Therapy, this is the only treatment available for this type of Cancer. This is a very rare type of Cancer and only affects 35 people a year WorldWide. Amy has been having intense Chemotherapy at Birmingham Children's Hospital and was scheduled to go to America early next year. This has now been moved and Amy and her family flew out this week (w/c 31/10/2016) to start the Proton Beam Therapy Treatment along with more Chemotherapy.

I ran the London Marathon in 2011 raising £2,500 for Help For Heros and wanted to do this great run one more time for a personal best.

However, knowing and seeing such a wonderful family go through these exceptional hard times I had no hesitation in supporting them and Amy in her battle to beat this Cancer and bring her the life she fully deserves.
