Story

I am a student nurse at UCLAN and my mission is raise money to fund a session once a week to help reduce loneliness and social isolation in younger and older adults. This is something I am very passionate about as I feel blackpool has the highest statistics for those who are socially isolated and suffer with mental health issues. The money raised will be used to fund the sessions providing: tea, coffee, biscuits, live bands, information sessions, day trips & lots more. I feel this would work very well in this area as it’s one of Blackpool councils targets is to ‘improve social isolation’ and I am looking to make this a free or low cost voluntary service for people who are isolated and need some company or some who want to make some friends in Blackpool. The service will include an hour or two a week and will provide tea and coffee, different activities and events, support services and local resources to help give them the best health and well-being we can. We will also have district nurses giving information on what’s available in the community. I hope that Blackpool can come together on this occasion and help support me on my idea so we can get this support group up and running as a goal to reduce loneliness by 50% by the end of 2020. Thank you all in advance for your support.
