Story

Clive Smith was a brilliant husband, father, son, brother, colleague and friend, who took his own life on 5th April 2021.

Of course all cases of suicide are tragic, however we have elected to focus on the growing proportion of men who end their own lives, with three-quarters of suicide cases occurring in men (Office for National Statistics).

In loving memory of Clive, we have started The Clive Smith Foundation, which will promote;

- Better understanding of why suicide happens.

- Focus on promoting prevention methods.

- Encouraging open debate and conversation on mental health issues.

- Promote multiple opportunities for men to share their feelings.

- Provide a community of people determined to fight the stigmas of mental health and barriers to men in treatment.

In the first instance, we will be raising £5,000 to cover the registration fees for the foundation. Thereafter we will update the fund raising strategy to align with the mission statement set out above.

Please note, you will be able to visit The Clive Smith Foundation stand at Housing 2021, Manchester Central, from 7th-9th September 2021.

Thank you very much for visiting this page and we look forward to continuing the conversation with you all.
