Story

Hi guys, as the fundraiser is doing so well I've decided to raise the total. Both the family and I are completely overwhelmed with the response, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Hello everyone, on the 24th October myself (@TheVagaggle) and my best friend Megan (@Bodyposipanda) will be climbing Snowdon! And not just for the fun of it.

For the last few years I've had the pleasure of teaching three of the Burgess boys at Stagestruck Academy, their local performing arts school. I was absolutely heartbroken to find that Seb and then Josh had been diagnosed with RP, so I want to try and raise some money for them so the family can make some memories.

Below is what their mum Kristel has written so you guys can now a bit more about their family and what's going on.

On the 26th April 2017 we were given the news that Sebastian has retinitis pigmentosa (RP) exactly one year later Joshua was diagnosed with the same condition. RP is rare genetic condition which causes progressive vision loss, ending in complete blindness. Both boys also have hearing impairments, they are still undergoing tests at great Ormond street hospital, as it is now believed that they have an even rarer linked condition called x-linked RP with PCD (primary ciliary dyskinesia) there is very few known cases and the prevalence is less then 1 in 1million, this linked condition will mean that both Sebastian and Joshua will not only progressively loose their sight but also their hearing, the condition will also causes problems with their sinuses and lungs.

The last year has been very difficult for all the family and friends that know the boys as we are coming to terms with what is happening and the frequent trips to hospital. In the 5 months since Joshua’s diagnosis he has already lost almost all his peripheral vision, so our aim as a family is to give the boys as many memory making experiences as possible before their world goes dark forever
